Forest School

What is it?

Forest School is a distinctive approach to learning which allows individuals of any age to engage with nature and the environment and to enjoy opportunities offered by natural play in stimulating, hands-on, creative outdoor experiences. What makes it unique is that it focuses on the development of the whole child and allows children to develop their own learning styles and develop at their own pace. It celebrates collaborative learning between adults, children and the environment. Forest School is a philosophy which focuses on a particular way of working with children in an outdoor environment in which learning takes place over a period of time, in regular sessions rather than one-off outdoor activities.
