Helme C of E Academy

The government is providing additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - is allocated to primary school headteachers.  The funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.  We aim to develop agility, physical co-ordination, fitness, confidence and enjoyment through PE lessons and Forest and Outdoor Learning lessons. The school is able to use the playground, the school garden, the playing fields and the forest for our outdoor learning. Y3 and 4 children go swimming throughout the year at Slaithwaite Swimming Pool.

The staff at Helme C of E Academy ensure everyone is involved in outdoor activity throughout the week. Please click on the documents below to see how our Sports Premium budget has been spent in the past and is planned to be spent this academic year. The long term aim is development of subject knowledge for staff to ensure high quality PE provision for all pupils and developing our outdoor learning provision to ensure all our pupils enjoy the physical and mental benefits of working outdoors.
